Christ Mercyland Ministry Breaks Silence on NAFDAC Investigation, Denies Allegations of Misconduct

The Senior Prophet of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry has responded to ongoing allegations regarding the current NAFDAC investigation into the church. This response was made via a press release aired on Mercyland Television.

In a statement, the church expressed shock at what it described as a misleading report by Punch Newspaper, which published an article titled “NAFDAC Investigating Pastor Jeremiah’s Miracle Water and Soap – DG.” According to the media department of Mercyland Television, this report does not accurately represent the church’s dealings with NAFDAC.

The church clarified several points:

Compliance with the Law: Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry affirmed that it is a law-abiding institution, fully recognizing the NAFDAC Act and the laws of Nigeria. As a Christian body, it operates within the constitutional guarantees of religious freedom.

Pending Petition: The church acknowledged the existence of a petition filed by a certain Mr. Martins Vincent Otse, alias Verydarkblackman, against the ministry. This individual, who the church claims forged receipts to file a complaint with NAFDAC, is currently being sued by the church.

Receipt Investigation: The church disclosed that police investigations are ongoing into alleged forged receipts presented by the complainant to NAFDAC. They noted discrepancies between these receipts and official church-issued receipts.

Lack of Feedback from NAFDAC: The church expressed disappointment that NAFDAC has yet to respond to its letters regarding these issues, particularly concerning the short notice for a scheduled meeting.

Denial of Misrepresentation: The church refuted claims by Punch Newspaper that it used NAFDAC’s name to deceive the public. It emphasized that the ministry has always adhered to its religious practices, which involve the use of spiritual items for healing, without producing or selling consumable goods.

Legal Cooperation: Contrary to reports of non-cooperation, the ministry stated that its representatives, including a legal team, attended a meeting with NAFDAC on September 2, 2024, at their Asaba office. They noted full cooperation with the investigating officers and confirmed they are scheduled to appear again on September 10.

Journalistic Ethics: The church criticized Punch Newspaper for publishing a story without first obtaining its side of the matter, describing the report as unethical and based on a vendetta.

In then end, the church reiterated its commitment to religious freedom and lawful conduct, urging the public to disregard the reports from Punch Newspaper. The ministry also indicated that it will continue cooperating with NAFDAC to resolve the ongoing investigation.
