A respected cleric of the Baptist Church, Reverend Samson Okoro Elekwa, has showered praises on the Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, describing him as “Abia’s greatest gift from God” and “a divine instrument” through whom God is transforming the lives of people in the zone.
Speaking with newsmen, Reverend Elekwa commended Senator Kalu’s exceptional efforts in rural infrastructure development, particularly highlighting his commitment to road construction across various communities in Abia North.

The cleric specifically mentioned the construction of roads in Ndi Orieke, Ohafia LGA, and Amannagwu, Arochukwu LGA, describing them as life-changing projects that have opened up rural communities, boosted trade, empowered farmers, and improved transportation.
“The road in Ndi Orieke, Ohafia, and the one in Amannagwu, Arochukwu, are just a few among the many life-changing projects Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has brought to our people,” Rev. Elekwa stated.
“He didn’t just talk; he acted. These roads have opened up our communities and empowered our farmers, traders, and transporters. For me, this is real empowerment—far better than sharing wrappers or giving out small cash.”
The cleric further listed other communities that have benefited from Kalu’s projects, including Atan Abam, Alayi, Ezeukwu, Ndi Inya Abam, Isu, Umuzomgbo, Itumbauzo, Okoko Item, Nneato, Akanu Ohafia, and Abia Ohafia.
Beyond infrastructure, Reverend Elekwa described Kalu as a leader who is “building hope, restoring pride, and empowering generations,” urging the people of Abia North to acknowledge and protect his legacy.
He, however, took a swipe at those criticizing the senator, describing them as “political jobbers and sponsored nonentities” who are threatened by Kalu’s growing influence and achievements.
“Those attacking Senator Kalu are jobless noise-makers who have never brought a single block to their communities. They are threatened by his success and are trying to distract him. But they will fail,” he declared.
Reverend Elekwa called on the people of Abia North and the South East at large to rally behind Senator Kalu, whom he described as a visionary, development-driven leader committed to grassroots transformation.
“The South East needs leaders like Kalu—bold, generous, and development-driven. I urge our people to stand with him and ignore those who only know how to criticize without results,” the cleric concluded.
