The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has called for enhanced collaboration and transparency to drive sustainable development in Nigeria’s South-East region.
Speaking on March 10, 2025, during the inauguration of the South East Development Commission (SEDC) board and management, Kalu emphasized the need to prioritize partnership over politics in the region’s development agenda.
Addressing the newly appointed SEDC leadership, Kalu urged them to manage allocated resources prudently and transparently, ensuring that the commission serves the best interests of the people rather than political influences.
“Your ultimate driving force should be partnership, not politics,” he stated.
The Deputy Speaker’s call follows the ongoing legislative efforts aimed at accelerating infrastructure development, economic growth, and social advancement in the South-East.
