Edo emerges top at NNPC/SEPLAT 2025 Parles Quiz finals

Pioneer Education Centre, Benin, Edo has emerged winner of the NNPC/SEPLAT Energy 2025 Parles Quiz finals competition held  in Asaba on Thursday.

9news Nigeria reports that the quiz competition is a SEPLAT Joint Venture (JV) Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative targeted at equipping secondary schools with science laboratory and Information Communication Technology (ICT) centre  to advance learning and empowering students.

Emerging top at the quiz finals, the celebrated Pioneer Education Centre, Edo, won the first prize money of N10 million to equip its ICT centre.

Also, the second and third place schools;  Notre Dame College, Uzoro, Delta and Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Model College, Benin received five million naira and three million naira respectively.

However, the fourth placed school, Ogini Model College, Ogharefe-Oghara, Delta received a consolation prize for participation.

The Seplat JV CSR also awarded a prize money of one million naira to Hollywood International School, Asaba, for emerging top in its STEAM Multi- Functional Laboratory schools projects exhibition out of 11 schools in Edo and Delta state that participated.

Accordingly, Pioneer Education Centre, Benin came second while Women Affairs Secondary School, Asaba took the third position in projects exhibition and were awarded prize money of N500,000 and N250,000 respectively.

In his remarks, Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta lauded the NNPC/Seplat JV CSR for the initiative which has greatly impacted students in Edo and Delta states for many years now.

The governor, represented by Ms Orode Udughan, Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services and Girl Child Development, said the competition and the scholarship programmes for students of the two states remained commendable.

Oborevwori said: “Today, we celebrate not just a contest but the brilliance, promise and potential of our young people, the true future of our states and our nation.

“On behalf of the government and people of Delta state, I extend profound appreciation to Seplat Energy and the NNPC Joint Venture for their consistent and impactful investment in education.

“The PEARLS quiz, which translates to promoting exceptional and respectable

Leaders, is a shining example of corporate social responsibility that aligns perfectly with our developmental vision.

“For years, this initiative has provided a vibrant platform for students to demonstrate intellect, confidence and character while promoting the culture of academic excellence.

“The scholarships, awards and educational resources you provide continue to enrich our educational landscape and nurture future leaders,” he said.

While congratulating the winners, the governor urged them to remain focus and committed while commending  the students for their courage and brilliance.

“To our brilliant students from Edo and Delta states, I salute your courage, diligence and brilliance. You have all shown what hard work and determination can achieve.

“I offer sincere congratulations. You have done your schools, your families and your states proud. Beyond the trophies and prizes, every participant in this competition is a winner.

“The knowledge you have gained, the teamwork you have displayed and the confidence you have built are lasting assets that will guide you throughout life.

“Let this experience be a springboard for even greater academic and personal achievements,” Oborevwori said.

In their goodwill messages, Mrs Rose Ezewu, Delta Commissioner for Secondary Education, represented by the Acting Permanent Secretary, Mrs Patricia Iniovosa-Okakwu in the ministry, lauded the joint venture for impacting quality education on the students.

According to Ezewu, the initiative has continued to inspire excellence, ignite curiosity, and empower the bright minds of our future leaders.

“I commend SEPLAT Energy and its partners for this laudable and impactful programme.

“By promoting academic excellence and healthy intellectual competition among secondary school students, you are not only investing in the lives of young people but also reinforcing the foundation for sustainable development in Delta and Edo States.”

On his part, Dr Emmanuel Iyamu,  Commissioner for Education, Edo state, represented by Mr Abudukadiri Ikoghade, Director, School Support Service, in the ministry, thanked the joint venture for positively impacting the students and creating a positive academic environment in Edo and Delta.

He hailed the students of Pioneer Education Centre, Benin for emerging champion of NNPC/SEPLAT Parles Quiz finals, here in Asaba.

According to Iyamu, the competition will promote academic excellence among students of Edo and Delta.

9news Nigeria also reports that the.students  expressed appreciation to NNPC/SEPLAT for the competition while pledging their commitment and dedication to their studies.
