My names are UDEOGU, Udeogu Arinze Chris from no. 10 Umumeibe Street, Uru Umudim, Nnewi in Nnewi North LGA of Anambra State.
RE: COMPLAINT OF SARS SHOOTING TO MY YOUNGER BROTHER, UDEOGU STEPHEN, (AGE 35, B. SC IN ESTATE MANAGEMENT – UNIZIK AWKA).
This SARS brutality happened on 31st July, 2018 at about 7.05pm.
On that faithful evening, my brother was coming back from work with three of our cousins. When they approached our family front gate, they saw 5 heavy armed men with no official identification except one of them that was on black T-shirt written SARS.
At the scene, he notice that they where Men of Special Anti Robbery Squared, alphabetically called SARS.
He looked around and saw some of our elderly men, youths and women of our compound lying down by these men.
My brother and these three of our cousins gently a approached these men. Called one of them to talk two aside for a brief question. He asked the particular one he called out and softly asked him to kindly inform him what is going on here, because many of all these elderly men that are lying down were members of our families. And elders as for that matter.
That particular SARS man whom he was asking question surprisedly pointed his AK-47 riffle to my brother directly to his stomach shouting,
- Who are you to ask me question?
- Do you think that we as just ordinary police officers?
- We are that SARS you are hearing!
Fortunately to my brother, he jumped up and the SARS Officer fires him the close range bullet twice on his buttocks.
But before the arrival of my brothers, that same SARS guy has being harassing everyone there that they have licenses to kill anybody without any question(s).
Unconsciously, my brother failed down uncontrollably. As soon as the guy fired him that gun, one of them shouted from behind, “No nah”!
Immediately, their driver revised their bus back. Four people among them rushed inside the bus and took off with the already arrested people, while the guy that shut my brother started pursuing them to join them, eventually met them at the entrance junction of our street.
My brother was immediately rushed to St. Felix Specialist Hospital (Catholic Diocese of Nnewi) formerly known as Okoro Hospital Nnewi near Nnewi North LGA Secretariat.
Urgent treatments, scans, X-RAY, laboratory test, blood transmissions, surgery etc were conducted on him after obtaining police extract from the Central Police Station (CPS) nearby to the hospital management.
Investigations were ascertained by the men of the Nigerian Police Force Headquarters, Awka. The name of the Police Inspector is Mr. Agbo, who takes charge of this case.
During the investigations, it was noted that those SARS officers came from Ichi in Ekwusigo LGA of Anambra State, police Division. And the name of the SARS culprit is Mr. Michael Ekot Egbai, people calls him “Egbe”.
All our legal actions so far to compel those SARS perpetrators to justices as a country where Democratical governance rules proofs abortive because of some intimidating acts, exhibited to silence this matter by prejudice.
Right now, my brother can no longer walk well, jobless or hold any hard job as a full time Professional Plumber. All his future plans as a full grown man has being partially dehumanized.
My Uncle, Late Mr. Lawrence Udeogu whom replaced my late father was among those elders lying down that black Tuesday, died after few days as a result of the trauma.
As i am filling this report, those SARS PERPETRATORS are freely moving as a sacred cow round the state without justices.
On behalf of our families, we hereby cries out for the attention of our great Country President, Mr Muhammad Buhari, Inspector General of Police, the Attorney General of Federation, Minister of Justice, International Communities, the Executive Governor of Anambra State – Chief Dr. Willie M. Obiano, Akpokuedike Global, Senate Minority – Chief, Senator, Sir, Enyinnaya Abaribe, Senator Representing Anambra South – Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah (Prince of the Senate), Federal House Member Representing Nnewi/ Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency – Hon. Engr. Emeka Azubogu, Member Representing Nnewi North at Anambra State House of Assembly – Mr. Nonso Smart Okafor, National Human Right Activist, Nigerian Barr Association, All Well Meaningful Nigerians, Nigerians in diaspora, None Governmental Organizations etc to urgently come for our assistance and grants us justices.
