FG Adopts TASUED Ogun State As Federal University

The Federal Government has officially adopted Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ogun State, as Federal University, Established in 2005, TAUSED is Nigeria ‘s first specialized University of Education and first federally owned tertiary institution in Ogun East senatorial district.

President Tinubu approved the transition on Friday, acknowledging Ogun State Government’s institution.

He highlighted that the move honours Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Dr. Tai Solarin for their immense contributions to education.

He also recognized the Awujale of Ijebuland’s role in saving the institution from closure in 2012.

TASUED’s federal status aligns with the government’s goal of strengthening teachers education.

With TASUED new status, the Federal Government oversees seven educational universities; They are; Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri, Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo, and Federal University of Education, Kano. Others are, Federal University of Education, Zaria, the Federal University of Education Pankshin, Plateau State, and the Federal University of Education, Kontagora, Niger State.
