FG Digitizes Cattle Routes, Grazing Reserves Nationwide

The Federal Government of Nigeria has completed the digitization of all cattle routes and grazing reserves across the country.

The Minister of Livestock Development, Mukhtar Maiha announced this during a National Press Conference on Friday in Abuja.

Speaking on the initiative, the minister revealed that electronic tagging (e-tags) is also being introduced to track livestock nationwide, ensuring better management and security within the sector.

According to him, the move is part of the government’s broader efforts to reform the livestock sector, improve food security, and address long-standing conflicts between farmers and herders.

“The digitization of cattle routes and grazing reserves is a critical step towards modernizing livestock farming in Nigeria.

“Additionally, the introduction of e-tags will enhance traceability, curb cattle rustling, and support effective planning,” Maiha stated.
