First Baptist Church, Garki, Abuja, has denied allegations of financial mismanagement and fraud, specifically regarding the handling of N620 million against its former Senior Pastor, Rev. Dr. Israel Adelani Akanji, FAR, now the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention.

The church’s leadership has condemned rumors and misinformation circulating on social media, targeting Rev. Dr. Akanji. According to the church, there’s been no misappropriation or conversion of funds or property.

The church’s accounts are intact, regularly audited, and managed by qualified financial personnel.
Every transaction made during Rev Dr. Akanji’s tenure adhered strictly to due process and church policies. Under his leadership, the church experienced unprecedented growth, becoming one of the leading churches in the Nigerian Baptist Convention.
The church’s Board of Trustees (BOT) hasn’t lodged any complaints with the Nigeria Police, and any legal action against the church and its leadership is deemed to be sponsored by “evil forces” seeking to malign and embarrass the church.
The church has expressed gratitude for the love, concern, and understanding of those disturbed by the false narrative. With confidence and faith, the church affirms it will continue to march on, undeterred by challenges.
