FLOOD: Gov. Zulum Adds N61bn As Supplementary Budget, House Members Approved

Following the addition of N61bn to the 2024 budget by Borno State Governor, Prof Babagana Umara Zulum, the state House of Assembly has approved it.

The addition is said to address the damages caused by recent flooding in the state.

The budget proposal was presented by Governor Zulum and was delivered to the Chairman of the House Committee on Budget and Appropriation, Mustapha Ali Benisheikh.

The session for passing the supplementary budget was presided over by the house speaker, Rt. (Dr.) Abdulkarim Lawan.

After a motion by the House Leader, Hon. Dige Mohammed, seconded by Hon. Audu Mustapha, the House resolved into a committee of supply to review the budget.

Upon resumption, Speaker Lawan announced the approval of the supplementary budget.

The total funding for the relief efforts includes N20 billion from the state government and N41 billion from various MDAs.

The House adjourned until Thursday, October 10.

In a related development, Speaker Lawan, along with other members of the House, visited the remodeled Borno State Assembly Service Commission.

Chairman Ali Bulama Yajiwa expressed appreciation to Governor Zulum for the renovation funding and acknowledged the support of the assembly.
