The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has resigned from his position with immediate effect, citing health concerns.
Dr. Ganduje, who served as the Governor of Kano State from 2015 to 2023, assumed office as APC National Chairman in August 2023 amid internal party disputes and mounting political pressure.
His tenure at the helm of the ruling party has been marked by controversy and persistent challenges, including calls for reform within the party’s leadership structure.
In a brief statement on Friday, Ganduje said his decision was driven by the need to prioritize his health and well-being, though he did not disclose further details about his condition.
Party sources say consultations are ongoing within the APC’s National Working Committee to determine his successor, as the party braces for key political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
