This was made known at the Progressives Young Leaders Summit, hosted by the APC National Youth Leader, Dr Dayo Israel, key discussions took center stage today at the Banquet Hall of the State House. This three-day mega event, now in its second edition, brought together an impressive lineup of former and current Youth leaders, along with young Nigerian achievers of global acclaim.
The Summit’s purpose is to inspire, challenge, and guide young people in crafting a roadmap for leadership in the 21st century and shaping the future. This year’s theme, ” Shaping the Future We Want: Restiveness. Inclusion. Development. Action, ” aligns with the strategic plan to empower the next generation.
In his opening remarks, the host, Dr. Israel emphasized that the 2024 Summit aims to channel the energy and passion of young Nigerians into forging a future that aligns with the aspirations of the next generation, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda central to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for Nigeria. He revealed that the three day event will unpack various opportunities that will be tapped by the youths especially from various agencies of government. Dr. Israel, urged the youth to stay resilient, assuring them that President Tinubu is attuned to their concerns and will address them in due course.
Throughout the panel discussions, speakers underscored that these vital conversations will position the youth and the APC as a party committed to progressive ideals. As guest speakers and panelists, they tackled crucial topics surrounding youth leadership inclusion and the strategic political engagement necessary for transformative change.
Speaking at the event and officially opening the summit, the Chairman of the ruling APC, Alhaji Dr. Umar Ganduje, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasized the importance of skill acquisition as a key component of the government’s strategy to create jobs and fulfill the renewed hope agenda of the current administration. He noted that the program is designed to highlight the administration’s commitment to improving the lives of Nigeria’s youth, aligning with the president’s plans, particularly in creating sustainable job opportunities. He praised the youth leader for the initiative in organizing the summit and urged the youth to seize the opportunities presented by the summit, which aims to equip them with the necessary tools for empowerment.
Among notable attendees was the Minister of State for Youths, who identified himself as part of the progressives’ Youths. Speaking on the sidelines of the event, he stressed the importance of the Summit in ensuring national progress and highlighted that opportunities for youth inclusion abound, without the need for personal connections. He affirmed that Nigerian youth possess all it takes to be integral to the current administration.
The Summit aims to solidify the APC’s reputation among young Nigerians as a party dedicated to inclusion and prioritizing youth concerns, fostering the emergence of fresh ideas within leadership circles, and securing a bright future for Nigeria.
