Gov Okowa : Visit The Niger Head Bridge Post To Ascertain Compliance On Boundary Enforcement,Hails Taskforce.

ASABA: Today Saturday, 9 May 2020, His Excellency the Executive Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa paid an unannounced Working Visit to the Oshimili South Covid-19 Taskforce on Boundary Enforcement Team posted at the Asaba end of the Niger Headbridge to ascertain the level of compliance to the State’s directives on Interstate Boundary closure as a way of curbing and curtailing the spread of Covid-19.

It is no longer news that the 36 State Governors all agreed on a 2 weeks interstate restrictions on movement as a measure to prevent the spread of Coronavirus infection from one State to another.

It is also no news that WHO and NCDC have come out with various guildelines such as need for hand washing with soap and water, use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers, social distancing, use of facemask in public places etc as ways to prevent contracting the dreaded disease.

What is news is the way and manner each State Governor has been able to efficiently manage and curtail the spread of the global health pandemic called Covid-19; a situation that has brought world Leaders to their knees and is constantly overwhelming Healthcare Workers.

In Delta State, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has been in the forefront in the fight against Covid-19.
Amongst other things the State Governor set up the State Taskforce Committee on Covid-19, he put in place 4 functioning Covid-19 Isolation and Treatment Centers in the State and ensured over 400 Healthcare Workers have been trained in the management of Covid-19.

Only recently, the Governor set up the Delta State Covid-19 Taskforce on Boundary Enforcement comprising of 13 Teams spread across 9 LGAS in the State.

The Niger Bridge (Asaba/Onitsha Bridge) within the enclave of Oshimili South LGA is one of the major entry/exit points into the State from the South East and the Northern region of the Country.

As the Coordinator, Oshimili South LGA Covid-19 Taskforce on Boundary Enforcement, Honorable Innocent Esewezie has efficiently and tirelessly ensured that unauthorised human and vehicular movement across the Niger bridge into the State is being strictly enforced and adhered to as directed by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.

Esewezie who received the State Governor and his entourage briefed him on the milestones achieved thus far since the inauguration of the Taskforce and the level of compliance to his directive to enforce boundary closure.

Governor Okowa who was happy and pleased with the compliance level at the ever busy Niger Bridge hailed the Cordinator of the Oshimili South Covid-19 Taskforce and his team of able enforcers.
