Government Seals Master Plan Faulted Filling Station In Owerri

Imo state government through its development control agency, Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA) on Wednesday sealed an ongoing wrongfully sited Fuel Station along the ever busy Wetheral road, Owerri the State capital.

While coordinating the the Sealing off exercise, the Special Adviser and General Manager of Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA) Engr. Francis Chukwu explained that the project violated the Owerri Capital Masterplan, adding that the developer has been served a Stop Work notice earlier by the operatives of the Agency but flouted the directive and went ahead with the construction of the Petrol dispensing facility as reported by 9News Nigeria.

He explained further that the Agency took a proactive measure by sealing off the Fuel Station which is under construction in order to ensure the Safety of lives and property by forestalling the construction of structures that pose danger when sited in residential and densely populated areas.

Engr. Francis Chukwu harped on the need for Developers to make it a point of duty to first visit the Agency with their Building Plans, stressing that it is the only way to ascertain if such building is in accordance with the Owerri Capital City Masterplan or not.
