Governor Eno Approves ₦80,000 Minimum Wage for Civil Servants

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has authorized the payment of a new minimum wage of ₦80,000 to civil servants in the state, effective from November 2024.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Ekerete Udoh, in Uyo.

According to the statement, the approval follows the submission of the Minimum Wage and Personnel Verification Report by the Head of Service, Mr. Effiong Essien, to the governor on Monday.

The verification process, which involved over 45,000 personnel, was conducted to ensure accuracy and eligibility for the new wage structure.

“Governor Umo Eno has authorized the commencement of the payment of the new minimum wage of ₦80,000 to 45,000 duly verified public service workers.

“The payment will begin at the end of this month and will be backdated to November 2024,” Udoh stated.

Meanwhile, an implementation committee for the minimum wage was established by Governor Eno in December 2024 to facilitate seamless execution of the payment process.
