Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has
approved N100,000 as Christmas gratification to all categories of staff in the employ of the State Government.
Excitement erupted at the Christian Ecumenical Center Abakaliki when Governor Nwifuru announced a N100,000 Christmas package for Ebonyi State workers.
The monitary gratification is to be accompanied with a bag of rice to all workers.
The announcement came during the flag-off of the pet project of the Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, at the centre. The jubilant crowd resonated with Governor Nwifuru’s statement that the state’s resources belong to the people and he wouldn’t let them suffer in poverty.
He explained that the N100,000 package, including a bag of rice, aims to ensure workers enjoy Christmas like their counterparts in other states.
Nwifuru is the second governor in the country in administration who has so gratified workers with N100,000 to enable them celebrate Christmas with their families and friends.
Last week Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers lifted the bar of Xmas gratification to civil servants in his State, and today Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi saw the need to replicate same in his State.
Reacting to the excitement from workers in the venue, Nwifuru said:
“Though it’s difficult the workers of this state must live like others during this festive season. This is a time to bless your neighbours and your homes.”
“As the leader of the state, it’s my duty to be a blessing to everyone. I’m using the state’s money, not my own, that I was elected to manage. Since I took office, I’ve worked with the caucus and principal officers to ensure Ebonyi workers have something to celebrate”, he said.
