Another heavy rain has hit the bad condition of Nekede/Ihiagwa road in Imo state leaving road users in confusion and regrets.
Saturday night was like a terrible moment to its road users who diverted to an alternative road through the Westend area via old road Nekede to get to their destinations. The Old road Nekede has also gone bad by the pressure exerted on it by road users and this call for emergency attention too.
9News Imo state was on the spot to witness the bad condition of this road.
From the Federal Polytechnic Nekede axis down to Nekede Police Headquarters cum Police Training College to Ihiagwa market and down to the bridge towards FUTO gate and Obinze area was impassable.
Users lamented the slow speed of contractors handling this road who they said stopped work at Fedponek gate and retired to its shelf.
9News authoritatively revealed that the work on this said road is progressing. The contractor has covered from Naze roundabout area down to the federal polytechnic Nekede axis. We also sighted working equipment set along the road possibly to continue work from Fedponek down to the above-mentioned areas.

It is the terrible situation of the Nekede/Ihiagwa axis of the 14km road commissioned by the state government. No doubt the construction company handling the said road has done good work from Fedponek point down to Naze roundabout.
It is the hope of the people that the remaining area will be completed very fastly to bit the raining season.
A call in the right direction is for governor Uzodinma to please mandate the construction company handling this road to put more efforts and be fast to achieve the said target to enable the recovering and reconciliation mantra to be beneficial to Imo people.
