High Chief Tunde Ogunleye, Another PDP Chieftain In Ekiti Rejects Appointment Into Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Committee

A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, High Chief Tunde Ogunleye, has rejected his appointment as the party’s Assistant Director (Finance) of the Campaign Management Committee in the state.The Director-General, PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation and Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, had on Sunday released a list of PCC members for the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa, for Ekiti State.

Some members of the PDP in the state loyal to former Governor Ayodele Fayose, on Monday, rejected their appointment and list of members of the party’s Presidential Campaign Committee and management committee.

The rejection by some members and stakeholders including a former governorship candidate, Bisi Kolawole, named as the state PCC chairman in a letter to the PDP PCO DG, titled, “Re-appointment as chairman of PCC Ekiti State,” made available in Ado Ekiti on Monday, said although he had not been contacted about the appointment, he wished to raise concern on the membership.

However, Ogunleye, a former Commissioner for Public Utility in the State has also rejected his appointment as the party’s the Assistant Director (Finance) of the Campaign Management Committee, of the state.

This was contained in letter personally signed by him, dated 19th, December 2022 titled “Rejection Of Appointment As Asst.

Director, Presidential Campaign Management Committee, Ekiti State.

”The letter reads;

“I write to inform you of my decision to reject my appointment as the Assistant Director (Finance) of the Campaign Management Committee, Ekiti State.

“As a loyal and committed member of the PDP, I found it awkward and inimical to the spirit of party loyalty and discipline, to work with people who have refused to be apologetic about their working against the PDP in the last governorship election.

“To me, no society can progress when the principle of reward and punishment is lacking.

“However, as I always have been, I will remain committed to the party and its candidates for the 2023 general elections, especially those who have demonstrated their value for us,” the letter stated.

Other PDP members, including Omotoso Okaya, who was appointed to serve on the committee as Assistant Secretary, the Directorate of Research and Strategy, also rejected their nomination to serve on the committee in the state.

In the same vein, some PDP National Assembly candidates in the state for the 2023 general elections also rejected the composition of the Campaign Management Committee for the state, saying it comprised people who would work against their ambitions.

The party’s National Assembly candidates, including, Lateef Ajijola, Funso Ayeni, Oluyinka Akerele, Lere Olayinka, Adenike Emiola, Joju Fayose and Babatunde Ajayi also rejected their appointments in a joint letter addressed to Tambuwal.
