A high-powered gathering of notable All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders from Okigwe Zone convened at the Obowo residence of APC Chieftain, Chief Longers Nzenwata Anyanwu.
Convened on Saturday, 26 April 2026 in what participants unanimously described as the most significant political consultation in the zone in recent times, the meeting brought together an array of influential stakeholders across the six local government areas of the zone.
It reflected a broad-based effort to shape the political direction of Okigwe ahead of future contests.
Among those in attendance were Barr. Ike C. Ibe; Rt. Hon. Maxwell Duru; Pharm. Joseph Obi; Hon. Maj. Emenike; Barr. Ifeanyi Agwu; Engr. Alex Mbakwe; Barr. Chris Okewulonu; and Dr. and Dr. Mrs. Ben Uwakwem. Also present were the State Deputy Chairman of the APC, Arc. Enwerem; the State Deputy Secretary, Nzenwa Nwosu; and five local government party chairmen led by Lady Mbonu, alongside all six APC local government chairmen in the zone.




Other notable attendees included Engr. Mrs. Uche Uba; Lady Patience Mbakwe, the Okigwe Zonal Woman Leader; Dr. Eddy Anyanwu; the Okigwe Zonal APC Chairman, Hamza Ogu; and Chief Imam of Imo State, Sheikh Sulaman, among several others.
Speakers at the meeting took turns to commend Chief Anyanwu for his longstanding contributions to the growth and unity of Okigwe Zone.
They described him as a committed leader who has consistently demonstrated capacity and dedication to the development of the area.
In a communique-like consensus, stakeholders expressed strong support for Chief Anyanwu’s senatorial ambition, urging that he be given the opportunity to represent Imo North Senatorial District at the Senate.
According to them, his track record and experience position him as a credible candidate capable of advancing the interests of the zone at the national level.
The meeting is widely seen as a strategic step in consolidating political alignment within the APC in Okigwe Zone, as consultations ahead of the next electoral cycle begin to gather momentum.
