Popular Nigerian Singer, Niniola Apata also known professionally as Niniola, has opened up about the lifelong trauma of witnessing the assassination of her father, Brigadier-General Simon Apata (Rtd), in Lagos.
Apata was gunned down by assailants on January 8, 1995 in the presence of his family.

Speaking in a recent interview with Jay On Air, Niniola recalled the hallowing incident, stressing that the pain has remained with her for decades.
“I was in the house when my dad was murdered. And I was his favourite child so you can imagine (the trauma). Till today, I’m not over it. I can never get over it”, she said.
She explained that although she was very young at the time, the memory still haunts her.
The Afrobeats singer and songwriter, born in Lagos, December 15, 1986 (38 year-old) participated in the Sixth Season Project Fame West Africa in 2023.
Niniola’s younger sister, Teni, had also revealed in 2023 that witnessing their father’s murder at just two years old left her deeply traumatized.
