Timileyin Ajayi, suspected killer who dismembered his girlfriend in Nasarawa State has stated that he feels no remorse for the murder of his girlfriend, claiming he discovered her infidelity.
Salome Eleojo Adaidu was murdered during a visit to the suspect’s residence located in the Papalana area of New Karshi, within the Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Timileyin Ajayi, aged 30, is currently in custody at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Nasarawa State Police Command in Lafia.
The suspect was arrested in connection with the death of his alleged girlfriend, Salome Eleojo Adaidu, a 24-year-old member of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), who was serving at NICON Insurance in Abuja.
The incident occurred when Salome visited Timileyin Ajayi at home in Papalana area of New Karshi.
Timileyin Ajayi was transferred to the Nasarawa State Police Command Headquarters from the Karshi development area on Tuesday.
He was presented alongside the knife and matchet used in committing the crime.
The suspect was apprehended on Sunday, January 12, while attempting to dispose of Salome’s head after allegedly killing her and dismembering her body following her visits sustaining injuries from a mob that recognized him prior to his arrest, Timileyin admitted to the crime.
In an interview with journalists, the suspect, when asked If he had killed Salome, he affirmed, explaining that the act was not premeditated but rather a result of lack of time together.
“I killed her because we don’t have each other all the time, It wasn’t something I planned. It occurred that day. I didn’t have it in mind before hand, she was cheating. She often concealed things from me. I discovered her conversations with other men on her phone, which prompted my decision”, he stated.
When further questioned about any regrets he might have, he expressed none, stating, “I don’t have any regrets because life is reciprocal that is what I thought, If you must do something to someone, you have to be reciprocal with that person. You have to understand what that person is going through so that you can actually put yourself in the position that the person is going through, that is why I don’t have regrets because we were actually compatible”
Esther Adaidu, the elder sister of Salome had refuted any knowledge of a relationship between her late sister and the accused while calling for justice.
She stated, “We don’t know this individual referred to as Timi. We had never encountered him until we were informed that he had murdered and dismembered our sister.
“I demand justice be served to this individual present, as he is responsible for my sister’s death, and he has admitted it to me”.
Salome uncle, Samson Adaidu, articulated the family’s stance.
“The family learned of this situation through the Nigerian Police, and we are anticipating justice from them”, he remarked.
He recounted the tragic ordeal, saying; “He has not only taken our daughter’s life but had also mutilated her. He dismembered her into 50 pieces, and it appears he was preparing her remains for consumption, as he placed them approximately six plastic bags”.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Nasarawa State Command SP Ramhan Nansel assured that justice would be pursued.
He stated, “The Investigation is ongoing, and once concluded, the suspect will be brought to the court for prosecution. I want to assure the family and the public that the suspect will face consequences If found guilty.
“He will be charged to court, we encouraged anyone with complaints against the suspect to come forward, and those concerns will be thoroughly investigated”.
In response to the speculation regarding Timileyin’s identity as a gospel singer, he clarified that he is, in fact, a Cryptocurrency trader.
The suspect is currently in custody at the Criminal Investigation Department of Nasarawa State Police Command while further Investigations are conducted.
