Imo Commissioner for Education, Professor Ikegwuoha has made an open statement stating guidlines for candidates writing Both Junior and Senior WAEC, NABTEB and NECO Exams in the state.

A reliable source told 9News that this is to inform every student writting the above mentioned examinations to present their BECE while applying for the examinations.

It was also stated that any student without BECE (Junior WAEC/SSCE) Certificate, will no longer be allowed to sit for the (Senior) WAEC/NECO/NABTEB Examinations.

Meanwhile, if any student has already registered for the 2021 WAEC/NECO/NABTEB Examinations and does not have or possess verifiable evidence of BECE certificate, will not be allowed to sit for the 2021 WAEC/NECO/NABTEB, the Commissioner warned.

The candidates were further informed that registration exercise for the 2021 BECE examination is ongoing while interested applicants should be mindful that all fees are paid into the Treasury Single Account (TSA).

The candidates have however adviced to please consult the Principal of Junior Secondary School of RESPECTIVE schools for more information.

The Commissioner warned seriously, stating that any teacher or Principal who tells or informs his or her student that Junior WAEC (BECE) examination and certificates are irrelevant, will be penalised.

He finally cautioned those involved to be properly guided because this policy of Government will be implemented as directed.
