
An Owerri Magistrate Court has arraigned Jabuikem Isaac “M’ who was said to have committed a felony to wit: Burglary and Stealing which is an offence contrary to and punishable under section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap C-38 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2024 as applicable in Imo state of Nigeria.
The matter was brought to the magistrate’s court of Imo State of Nigeria in the magistrate court of the Owerri West magistrate district holden at Ihiagwa with charge No 8C- C/2025, commissioner of Police Vs Jabuikem Isaac ‘M’.
Recall that the said Jabuikem Isaac was arrested in Umuagwu Umuoma Nekede in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State Nigeria on a tip-off by the community Youths and concerned citizens that caught him red handed in the act of Break and Enter into several person’s houses in the community.
The case of burglary, stealing, break and enter into people’s dwelling houses became rampant in Umuagwu, Umuoma and Nekede community until the community resorted to night vigilant watch within the said area where the arrested became the scape goat . Jabuikem fell into the set security trap and was handed down to the police for investigation and interrogation which was later followed by his arraignment as 9News Nigeria reports.
After several interrogations on Jabuikem Isaac by the Nekede police division situate in Umuagwu , Jabuikem Isaac confessed to the crime and his matter was brought to the court of competent jurisdiction for possible arraignment.
Umuagwu Umuoma community increased high surveillance through vigilant watch in the community after some professional advice from the police DPO Umuoma Division that led to the apprehension of the arraigned Jabuikem.
However, some Concerned Citizens and the Youths of the area improved their night watch vigilance after visiting the DPO for counseling on February 4th, 2025 and same night at about 02:30hrs, the criminal was caught in the act of stealing and burglary in Umuagwu.
The community has expressed happiness for the swift intervention of the Police Division on such matters concerning crime check in the area while pleading for more robust measures in continuation of such an already established relationship with the host community targeted at combating criminality.
In addition, during the course of police investigation by the Nekede police division, the receiver of the valued stolen phone was also apprehended, brought to the court and was taken on bail inline with the requirements of law at the aforesaid magisterial district.
Investigation by 9News Nigeria reveals that several other phones was stolen from various houses in the same Umuagwu village in Umuoma Nekede Autonomous community in Owerri West , Imo State, through same pattern of break and enter, termed “burglary and stealing” as confessed by the the apprehended.
The community have on several occasions complained of phone theft, stealing, rape, attempted murder, undue harassment of innocent citizens, indecent dressing, illicit drug smoking and peddling, burglary and other forms of corruption and criminalities going on in the area alongside its neighboring communities.
Some weeks ago, a case of gruesome murder of a progressive (Youth ) indigene of Umuagwu Umuoma community was reported across social media outlets alongside the recently arraigned criminal earlier paraded by the community. These incidents took place within a space of two weeks within the Federal Polytechnic Nekede back gate and Umuagwu community in same Nekede Owerri West.
At the magistrate Court Ihiagwa court -2, Magistrate oby Amadi, on the 12/02/2025 arraigned Jabuikem Isaac inline with the conditions of law.
The said Jabuikem was slammed with two count charges as stated in the
Charge No 8C- C/2025.

The charge read in parts:
“Count-1: That you Jabuikem Isaac ‘M’ on the same date and place in the aforesaid magisterial district did break and enter into the dwelling house of one Enerenwa Oluchi ‘F’ at night time with intent to commit a felony therein and having committed felony therein breaks out of the dwelling house and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 411(1)(2) of the criminal code Cap C-38 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2024 as applicable in Imo state Nigeria “
“That you Jabuikem Isaac ‘M’ on the same date and place in the aforesaid magisterial district did steal one Redmi 12c phone valued at hundred and fifty thousand Naira (N150, 000) property of Enerenwa Oluchi ‘F’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 390(9) of the criminal code Cap C-38 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 as applicable in Imo state of Nigeria “
