
The Bariga Local Council Development Area, Lagos State has renamed the popular Charly Boy Bus Stop after award-winning rapper Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Badoo.
In a move that’s got everyone talking, the poplar Charlie Boy Bus Stop in Bariga LCDA has officially been renamed Olamide Badoo Bus Stop – paying tribute to the legendary rapper Olamide who rose to limelight from Bariga to the global stage, and also showcasing hidden neighborhood through his music, culture, and undeniable street cred.
The development also included renaming of several streets in honouring notable figures.
Outgoing Council Chairman Kolade Alabi David revealed that the renaming is aimed at honouring notable individuals who have enhanced Bariga’s reputation and positively impacted Nigeria’s global image through their work and contributions.
“As an administration we took our time to reflect on a number of our people who have put the name of our local council on a global map through their respective God-given talents and craft, as eminent personalities in our Nation and our beloved State and Local Council who have contributed immensely to the development of our Nation and State. Today, we will be officially renaming streets in honour of the legacies”, he said.
The changes include renaming Ilaje Road to King Sunny Ade Road’, after veteran Juju musician.
Bariga Road has also been renamed Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way, while Community Road in Akoka, is now known as Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Road.
Other changes include renaming Ajidagan Street to Olamide Adedeji (Badoo) Street,after the award-winning rapper and singer who hails from Bariga.
Ifeanyi Street is now Abolore Akande’ (9ice) Street, while Ayodele Street in Ladi-Lak has been renamed Tony Tetuila Street.
Additionally, IIlojo Crescent in Obnikoro is now known as Bukayo Saka Street.
The changes comes just weeks alter Ajeromi -Ifelodun LGA also renamed 24 Streets in its jurisdiction.
