Center of Excellence, Lagos State has recently introduced an Electronic Geographic Information System (e-GIS) for individuals interested in purchasing land.

The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, expressed his satisfaction in a press statement released Friday, 26th January 2016 on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account @jidesanwoolu, stating that Lagos State has reached an advanced stage in land documentation and acquisition through the launch of the e-GIS.

The e-GIS portal is a comprehensive digital platform that aims to streamline and transform the process of acquiring, documenting, and verifying land in Lagos. It serves as a one-stop solution, providing access to digitized information about all the lands in the state prior to making a purchase.

Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the e-GIS portal offers the convenience of verifying, searching, and applying for various land titles, including Governor’s Consent, from the comfort of one’s home with just a few clicks. This innovative system has successfully organized and merged all archived land records dating back to the 19th century with existing land titles, ensuring that historical transactional data on every parcel of land in the state’s cadastre is stored and easily accessible.

By implementing the e-GIS, Lagos State aims to enhance transparency and efficiency in the land acquisition process. Prospective buyers can now rely on this digital platform to access accurate and up-to-date information before making any land-related transactions. This technological advancement is expected to simplify the overall procedure, ultimately benefiting both individuals seeking land ownership and the state government in ensuring proper documentation and verification.

With the launch of the e-GIS portal, Lagos State demonstrates its commitment to embracing technological solutions that facilitate progress and transparency in various sectors. The introduction of this advanced electronic system marks a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to revolutionize land acquisition processes, providing a convenient and reliable solution for those interested in purchasing land within Lagos.
