Lawmaker Seeks Inclusion Of Constituency In Amnesty Programme

Rep. Nnamdi Ezechi, representing Ndokwa East/Ndokwa West and Ukwuani of Delta has called for inclusion of his constituency in the amnesty Programme.

Ezechi made the call while granting an interview with reporters in Abuja on Friday, noting that his constituency had one of the largest reserves of gas, as well as hosting many oil companies, hence, it deserved to be part of the amnesty programme.

The lawmaker, who commended the youths for their peaceful disposition, said that it was time to reward them, by including them in the programme.

He therefore condemned the wave of insecurity in the country, as he urged government to ensure equitable distribution of resources to federating units.

9News Nigeria reports that some of his words were; “My people deserve to be rewarded for being peaceful and law abiding, in spite of the injustice meted out on them.

“Amnesty programme will help in bring development and calming down the nerves of the youths, who have commendably remained patient,” he said.

The credible news outlet further reports that Amnesty Programme was created by late President Umar Yar’dua, on June 25, 2009, to address the challenges of militancy in the oil producing areas.
