Forum of Female Vice Chairmen in Ogun State has donated campaign souvenirs to the APC Candidate for Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, in a demonstration of solidarity and support for her candidature ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The donation was made by the Vice Chairmen of Ifo, Ewekoro and Ipokia Local Government Areas, Hon. Bolanle Ojo, Alhaja Aliu Abisola and Hon. Olufunmilayo Okewole respectively.
According to the forum, the gesture, was a reaffirmation of their confidence in Hon. Adeleye’s political experience, capacity and commitment to effective representation, as well as their desire to encourage greater participation and visibility for women in politics.
Speaking on behalf of the forum, Alhaja Aliu Abisola said “the presentation was a modest expression of their support and identification with Hon. Adeleye’s candidacy”. She noted that “women in leadership must continue to support and encourage one another because the success of one woman in politics creates greater possibilities for others”. She added that the forum would continue to promote unity, solidarity and collective participation among women across the state.
Reacting to the gesture, Adeleye expressed appreciation to the female Vice Chairmen for the meaningful demonstration of sisterhood and political solidarity. She said, “This gesture goes beyond the souvenirs presented to me. It represents confidence, encouragement and a strong message that women are willing to stand together, support one another and create space for more women to contribute meaningfully to governance.”
Adeleye further commended the forum for consistently identifying with her candidature, describing their support as both encouraging and significant.
“When women support women, we are not just supporting an individual; we are strengthening the collective voice of women and advancing the cause of inclusive leadership”, she remarked.
Adeleye, a former Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development and former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Ogun State, also called for greater unity among women across political and geographical divides. She maintained that the participation of women in politics should move beyond token representation to active involvement in decision-making and leadership.
