My home. By Xaynab

Yerwa, my home, a home of peace
A state, a city, that has faced release
From calamities, insurgency, and what-not
Yet rises from the ashes, strong and resilient

Mothers’ cries echo through the air
As homes, memories, are lost, and beyond repair
A father watches, helpless and in pain
As his family, home, and children are swept away, like grains of sand

The streets we ran, played, and laughed
Now swim away, like tears, in the aftermath
But still, we hold on to faith and hope
A test from Allah, a night of terror we must face.

Trauma and pain, we cannot deny
But resilience and hope, are the only options to survive.
For Yerwa, our home, will rise again
Stronger, greater, like the morning sun’s rays.
From the ashes, just like Phoenix, born of pain
