A man has been detained after using a van to block the road in front of the Austrian public broadcaster ORF’s headquarters, claiming to have placed a bomb inside the vehicle.
Vienna police confirmed the incident on Tuesday, just as the vehicle was searched, and emergency services established a large exclusion zone around the site, evacuating nearby buildings.
An ORF presenter, whose programme was cancelled due to the security threat, reported on air that the man had threatened to carry out a bomb attack at the broadcaster’s headquarters.
