Nekede Youths Decry Abduction Of Their Brother Umunna Onyeukwu/Call On Government Intervention To Unravel The Abductors

Nekede Youths both home and in the diaspora have condemned the sudden abduction of one of their law abiding citizen, Umunna Onyeukwu by unknown gunmen.

The youths are using this world wide medium to plead for his immediate release by his abductors while calling on government to put up efforts to trap the kidnappers to face their odeal.

The Abduction took place on Sunday 3-07-2022 at about 19:05 hrs at his country home in Umuikea Umuoma Nekede Autonomous community in Owerri West local government area of Imo Statetate Nigeria.

No doubt the panic has continued across Nekede and Imo state at large since this kidnapp was perpetuated in the area.

Recall that it is in the same Umuoma Nekede that Mr Chukwudi Oparaku Osele from Umuezerokam town was kidnapped and till date the whereabout of the young man cannot be traced.

In this recent incident was a victim identified as Umunna Onyeukwu from Umuikea, Umuoma Nejede spotted inside his car parked near his compound when three armed men confronted and whisked him away.

Eye witness told 9News Nigeria that the three armed men battered the young man and forced him inside his car and driver away to an unknown destination.

The community source who pleaded anonymity, said the victim while returning from where he had gone to play football at the Central Primary School, did not know that some men were trailing him behind.

“So when he parked his car near his house and was trying to come out of the car, the men moved swiftly towards him and pointed gun at him ordering him to get back to his car. Immediately they forced him into their car and drove off,” he said.

According to a source close to the family, “we have not made contact with the abductors. The kidnappers have not called us. We are pleading for his release.

“We are dumbfounded because such a thing has not happened in Umuikea town in Umuoma autonomous community before. We have not heard or seen abductors coming into a compound to kidnap people before.”

When contacted, the Vigilante commander in the area, Mr Emmanuel Chikezie told 9News Nigeria that Information has gone to the Imo state police command, through the anti kidnapping unit.

His RS Lexus car was found at a location in Owerri municipality within Royce road by God is good motors and submitted to the anti- kidnapp unit waiting for further actions.

The traditional Ruler of Umuoma Nekede HRH Eze Morison SJ Eke PhD has condemned such an act while promising to reach out to government agencies to unravel the kidnappers and their possible cohorts who have been terrorizing Umuoma Nekede.

He further stated that the recent case of abduction of a son of his community is a very strange happenstance in his peace loving community.

“I sincerely wish and pray that there should be no reoccurrence while at the same time , I urge my subjects to re examine their lifestyle and live right and in the fear of the Lord day in day out .

However, when contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Michael Abattam Promised to get back to the press.
