The continued abduction of Nigerian citizens and bandit attacks on individuals and government facilities cum sensitive areas like the correctional facility, police headquarters, government officers apartments and the recent almighty Nigerian Defence Academy Kaduna state is a slap on the security architecture of NIGERIA.

However, the abduction of innocent citizens from various locations in NIGERIA is also an additional plot to undermine national security.

The worst trending is the attack on passenger shuttle buses travelling on Nigerian roads and the yet-to-be-identified bandits are making a trade with human life and negotiating with people on ransom to release their wards.

It is not that the Federal Government under President BUHARI has not invested a lot of resources and energy in the security management of the country but its outcome is not being favourable to the country.

In Osun, Ondo, Nasarawa, Rivers, Imo, Benue, Borno, Jos and Northwest zone have been marked as Bandits/ unknown gunmen attack areas and people are dying in numbers.

Speaking with 9News Nigeria, an expert in criminology and security studies who pleaded anonymity has blamed the federal government for not fighting Insecurity head-on to save lives.

In his words, “Bandits are not sophisticated and hardened more than the system we are practising in this clime and as such, there is no level of criminality and BANDITRY and insurgency Nigerian Government cannot handle”

“Until the government is ready to stop crime, corruption will not cease”, the expert frowned.

Bandits in Military Fatigues

When asked how best to stop the high prone of Insecurity in the country? He suggested very vividly the immediate need for the Nigerian Government to Improve the security intelligence gathering and upgrade the security apparatus at the national borders.

Meanwhile, he frowned at the attack on NDA Kaduna, a situation he said would have been arrested by security intelligence.

Confirming the attack, the spokesman of NDA, Major Bashir Jagira has maintained that it was a compromised attack for such bandits to gain access to a well-fortified institution to kill two officers and abduct one officer.

Looking at the story, “on arrival the bandits began shooting sporadically and in the process killed a Major and a Squadron leader and later on took another Major away through the nearby bush inside the academy”, is there any assurance that the country is safe if Bandits or Hoodlums could go such length to launch an attack and killed some military officers and took away one from such an environment?

I think the country has a lot to do in security intelligence gathering and upgrade to the latest high technological security apparatus and discipline of officers at work.

President Muhammadu Buhari attending international conference

He decried the high level of inhuman conduct of the majority of law enforcement agents in Nigeria and call on FG to address this issue as most important as create out policies to Improve the police Training modules.

Can my readers believe that the NIGERIAN DEFENCE ACADEMY is located few metres away from the FEDERAL COLLEGE OF FORESTRY MECHANIZATION Afaka, in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna state, where numbers of students were abducted in March 2021?

Does it mean the country does not have what it takes to curb crime and insurgency or is it that the insecurity situation in Nigeria is politically stage-managed?

I feel it is the responsibility of the government to provide security and welfare to its citizens but surprisingly death tolls are at a high range for lack of security.
