A delegation of talented young creatives from the Ogun Bloggers Alliance recently paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Her Excellency Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele, and left a lasting impression.
The group, comprising experts from various fields, showcased their professionalism and dedication to journalistic integrity, demonstrating their ability to inform, educate, and engage citizens on key issues affecting the state.
According to Mr David Olamide, the Coordinator of Gateway Bloggers Alliance, the visit was a familiarization visit to explain to the Deputy Governor why they came together to mobilize bloggers for a positive change.
“Bloggers have been given bad names over time, just like hackers. We have ethical hackers, and bloggers too have the good ones and the bad ones. We are coming out for the positive side, to show that bloggers can also change the narrative,” he said.
Speaking about the meeting, the Deputy Governor expressed initial reservations about bloggers, but was pleasantly surprised by the group’s commitment to ethics and good governance.
This shift in perception highlights the evolving narrative around bloggers and their role in shaping public discourse.
The meeting marked a turning point, as the Deputy Governor gained a new understanding of the power of digital media and its impact on governance.
