The Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), has recorded successes against Boko Haram, Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS), and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters in a series of counter-terrorism operations across Borno and Yobe States.
On August 22, 2025, troops of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade repelled a large-scale night attack on their Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Kumshe, Borno State.
The insurgents, armed with heavy weapons, were met with stiff resistance as Nigerian Air Force (NAF) surveillance and precision bombardments supported the ground offensive.
Military sources confirmed that the operation inflicted heavy casualties on the attackers.
A subsequent exploitation of the battlefield revealed more than 20 terrorist corpses, some buried hastily in shallow graves, along with a cache of recovered weapons.
In a separate operation the same day, troops from Sector 1 engaged insurgents during an offensive at Dipchari, near Banki Junction, Bama Local Government Area.
Several terrorists were neutralised in the encounter. Recovered items included one Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) tube, two AK-47 rifles, two magazines, 16 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and two motorcycles.
The momentum continued on August 23, when Sector 2 troops, working in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), carried out a long-range tactical raid around Ndoksa, near Buni Gari in Yobe State.
The operation resulted in the elimination of more terrorists, with troops recovering one AK-47 rifle and two motorcycles.
Commending the troops, the military high command hailed their courage and professionalism, urging them to sustain the tempo of the offensive until insurgents are completely subdued.
