History will be made again as Women And Family Advancement Initiative (WAFAI) about to sponsor a mass wedding of two hundred (200) couples in Anambra State.

The church wedding for the couples which has been slated to hold on the 18th of December, 2020, at Ihiala, in Ihiala local government area of Anambra State, to be presided by the Catholic bishop of Umuahia in Abia State; which will be followed with a ground breaking reception. The mass wedding will experience the presence of top Government officials, philanthropists, business moguls and celebrities from within and across the state to celebrate with all the newly wedded couples.

This was disclosed to 9newsng by the Founder and President of WAFAI, Lady Uche Fransisca Obi (PhD), during an interactive session with our correspondence. She went on to highlights WAFAI strategies that focuses on Entrepreneurial development in women, counseling, outreach and human Rights as it concerns the women.

“Our proposed project is aimed at arresting the tragedy of social vices and societal maladies streaming from uncultured family backgrounds, unwanted pregnancies, single parenting and cohabitation of adults who are not lawfully married and demands quintets to rescue the entire society dank gulf”.

Responding to 9newsng, Lady Obi pointed out that her philanthropic organization is fully registered at Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, Abuja, State Ministry of Women Affairs in Anambra State, Imo State and equally have chapters in all the thirty six states of the federation.

She further revealed to 9newsng.com that the vision, mission and Objectives of WAFAI in our society is for the Good Interest of our people; some of which is to restore the Lost values and moral standards which the family represents and to empower women and indigent people in our communities; through innovative programs, outreaches and projects organized in sections within the country.

She noted that one hundred and thirty (130) couples got wedded in the first edition of the organization mass wedding that was held at Ihiala in 2012, while the second edition was held at Ozubulu in Ekwusigo local government area of Anambra State in 2014.

Lady Uche Obi told 9newsng.com that her organization is fully responsible for the provision of wedding gowns, suits, individual wedding cakes for the couples and many other valuable Materials which will make the ground breaking wedding a colourful one for the intending couples who could not afford the wedding materials. “We are committed to make the wedding the best and also a memorable one for the Couples”, she added.

She also revealed to 9newsng, “apart from getting the couples wedded, her organization also empowers the couples with sowing machines, grinding machines and other empowerment items to aide their living.

While addressing 9newsng correspondence On what prompted her decision to be assisting the couples who could not afford to finance their church wedding. Lady Uche Obi revealed that after she got married, she was appointed Facilitator of the Deanery and that in her first visit, she realized that some women were having inferiority complex and could not participate fully in the programs that she had with the women, simply because they have not done their church wedding.

“having discovered that, I made up my mind to stand in the gap and assist them to get their church wedding done so that they can be free to worship their God without any sense of inferiority complex/marginalisation, she added.

“The testimonies which emanated from the first edition of the mass wedding has been a tonic for us to continue. Our focus is to give them the best wedding experience that will forever be in their memories. we offer them platform to acquire skills and as well give them a start up Capital after their training as a means of empowerment which is geared towards reducing poverty in our various Communities. That is what we have been doing at Women and Family Advancement Initiative(WAFAI),” Lady Uche Obi asserted.

She stated that the mass wedding is primarily for the Catholic for now but hopes to extend her kind gesture to other denominations, she however noted that the organization empowerment program is for all the indigents irrespective of their denomination.

Lady Uche Fransisca Obi, an Estate Surveyor and a Motivational Speaker appealed to affluent public spirited individuals to partner with her to put smile on the faces of the less privileged persons, especially the women in our society.

She also expressed the willingness of WAFAI to partner with forward looking philanthropic organisations in Anambra State and Nigeria at large. In her statement “we seek to partner and work with the State Government, Government Agencies on family support program, political appointees, NGOs, Financial institutions, head of Governments and traditional Rulers”.

Responding to 9newsng correspondence, lady uche Obi further highlighted the the items of the event, which was stated as follows: WAFAI Mass wedding, Grand Reception at the Venue, Presentation of Award of recognition to the invited guests and dignitaries, philanthropists, entrepreneurs for their numerous contribution and empowerment towards a better society, Installation of their Matron and patron, Empowerment of the Couples and Entertainments, she added.

Conclusively, she humbly invites the general public to come and share in the joy of the couples with Lots of dignitaries, as they walk down the aisle.
