Owners of land situated along Owerri Port-Harcourt road in imo state Nigeria have decried undue acquisition of their ancestral land by fake Government agents and unapproved attorneys who claimed to have been handling the matter between FUTO and host Communities till date.
Recall that Federal University of Technology FUTO Owerri is claiming the actual ownership of the said ancestral land belonging to Nekede, Ihiagwa, Obinze Avu Communities in Owerri West,Imo state.
At a meeting held by Community land owners in the area, agents of the unapproved Attorneys convinced their communities of the looming dangers in the near further if nothing was done to address and settle the land owners.
At the point of this explanation by those groups of individuals that went to ABUJA to negotiate for peace and to return the land to the original land owners, the people screamed at them while requesting for dialogue between the interest groups.
Meanwhile, our correspodent gathered that FUTO do not intend to genuinely build a medical school. They gave it to a developer for residential estate.
It is self serving. We have copies of their MOU with the private developer. Residential estate does not in any way constitute public purpose. If they want to build medical school, let them approach the owners ( the families, the traditional owners of the land) and we wl work with them.
Our children would have to be offered admissions, our people have to be offered employment but until they come, our land remains our inheritance, an anonymous hinted.
The crises have therefore hieghthened because alleged agents of government who claimed to been working with the ministry of lands Owerri together with an independent agent called ALADUM and Federal University of Technology FUTO are now battling for sole ownership of people’s land using community gluttons who are settled with millions of Naira to stand in for land ownership are dominating.
The people are asking how the attorneys took over the job and how best to improve the heathy standard of citizens through a good arrangements between the land owners and all other groups to seek for peace.
Infact, the scenario has been, that Chief ALADUM is in charge of some person”s property and kindreds while an indigenous surveyor Sam Anokam has claimed the sole Attorney of the entire land.
FUTO has their independent artorney while some groups of independent Attorneys have taken the matter to court.
This led the REPRESENTATIVES of family lands travel to ABUJA last week to discuss lasting solution with house of representatives but the outcome seem to be fruitless at the time of this report.
The communities involved are tensed up with this urgly scenario which has led them to resort to the Government of Hope Uzodinma for immediate rescue through the ministry of lands.
Another confusion bedevilling the land is that New capturing is going in by different groups of Attorneys but nobody is sure of the rightful source to help the land owners.
The irony is that majority of the leaders in these communities are living fine from the proceeds of the land while the majority of land owners are lavishing in hunger and pains.
Groups of land agents employed by some family land owners have taken the matter to court against the Government agents and Surveyor Anokam pending judgement.
But the people are very confused resorting to the All Progressives Congress APC party led administrationt for help. This story stands as an sos pending the judgement of the competent court of jurisdiction.
