Says electing next Local Government Chairmen lies with the electorates not the Commission.

Ahead of the Plateau State Local Government elections, scheduled for October 9, 2024, the State Electoral Commissioner (PLASIEC), Hon. Plangji Daniel Cishak has met with Security Chiefs to deliberate on strategies aimed at ensuring a hitch-free exercise.

At the meeting with Security Chiefs, the PLASIEC Chairman appealed to them to provide adequate security in the State as well as in all polling units to ensure that hoodlums are properly checkmated.

Cisshak said he will not condone any act of ballot snatching, calling on the security to deal decisively with any political thug found causing trouble.

9News Nigeria correspodent reports that the meeting was scheduled to discuss the level of preparedness for the Local Government polls.

However, PLASIEC said the meeting became imperative as the State was just coming out of incessant crisis and would not allow bandits to take advantage of the election to garner trouble.

He said the State Government has put efforts to ensure that the peace Plateau is currently enjoying will not be truncated as a result of the Local Government elections.

Cishak called on the general public to ensure that they conduct themselves in a civil manner during the October 9th polls, adding that the power to elect the next Local Government Chairmen lies in the hands of the electorates.
