The Plateau State Government has ordered all tricycle operators in the state to be enumerated as part of the efforts to check criminal activities associated with Keke operations.

The government has also asked those without the National Identification Number (NIN) to quit the roads.

It is said correct data of every operator could easily be obtained through NIN.

The State’s Commissioner for Transportation, Jatau Davov Gyang, stated this at the flag-off of the Integrated Tricycle Transportation System (ITTMS) project.

“We are aware of the infractions and the troubles the state has gone through as a result of activities of criminal tricycle riders without clear-cut identities.

So, we have decided to identity clearly who owns and rides a tricycle on the Plateau, especially in line with the Jos Master Plan.

“Government has the duty of securing lives and properties, and the state Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, equally holds the lives of every Plateau citizen so dear to heart.

“We want to say goodbye to those days of unsuspecting Plateau people being maimed by trying to have the convenience of getting to destination using a tricycle. And the only way to do that is to know who the tricycle rider are.

“So, If you are a user of tricycle on the Plateau, submit yourself for enumeration and data capturing.

On this note,.those tricycle riders without the National Identification Number (NIN) have no business with our roads because that is where you fetch the correct data of every Nigerian citizen, and we want to synchronize and align such data with every tricycle rider”, he said.
