Police Restrict Movement in Maiduguri Ahead of Sallah Eve

Nigerian Police Force, Borno State command has restricted the movement of people in the state’s capital, Maiduguri ahead of the Sallah festival, Eid-el-Fitri.

SP Edet Okon, the command’s public relations officer made the announcement through a release on Tuesday, noting that the restriction of vehicular movement is effective on the Sallah day.

He also noted that the measures will last from morning to 12:00PM on Thursday and will affect all motor vehicles, tricycles, bicycles, wheelbarrows and all animal transports.

Okon added that, ‘for the avoidance of doubt, bags, weapons or sharp objects of any kind will not be allowed into the praying grounds. Parents/Guardians are reminded to be mindful of their children/wards at the praying grounds to avoid incidents of missing persons.’

‘Worshippers are by this notice adviced to cooperate with security operatives deployed to the prayer grounds, as this is one of the many measures adopted by the command to ensure their safety before, during and after the prayers.

‘They are equally adviced to continue to be security conscious and to report all suspicious persons, activities or objects to the police or other security agencies,’ SP Okon explained.

Also, the use of face mask, observing social distancing as protocols for the Covid19 pandemic should be adhered at the praying ground, the Police said.
