The president departed from Abuja earlier Saturday to join other Heads of State and Governments of ECOWAS for the mid-year statutory meeting of the regional bloc.
Absent at the meeting was the Head of State of Mali who was recently suspended from the ECOWAS bloc.
9News Nigeria learnt that former president, Goodluck Jonathan who is the ECOWAS Special Envoy and Mediator to Mali was at the meeting. Dr Goodluck is expected to present a report on his latest working visit to Mali to the Heads of State.
Buhari was accompanied by the ministers of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyema; State, Foreign Affairs, Zubairu Dada; Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (Rtd); Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire; Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed; the National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd); Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele and the director-general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ahmed Rufa’i Abubakar.
