President Obama Accused of Contributing to Hostility Against Police

USA President, Barack Obama

A House Republican from Texas today accused President Barack Obama of stoking anger against law enforcement officials, speaking in the wake of the Dallas shooting that killed five law enforcement officers.

“The spread of misinformation and constant instigation by prominent leaders, including our president, have contributed to the modern-day hostility we are witnessing between the police and those they serve,” Rep. Roger Williams, R-Texas, said in a statement today.

A spokesman for Williams did not immediately return a request for comment and examples of the alleged misinformation spread by Obama.

Williams, who represents the Austin area, offered his condolences to the families of the five officers killed in Dallas.

Obama has called the shooting of the officers in Dallas a “vicious, calculated, despicable attack.”

“Let me just say, even as yesterday I spoke about our need to be concerned as all Americans about racial discrimination in our criminal justice system, I also said our police have an extremely difficult job and the vast majority do their job in outstanding fashion,” the president said today from the NATO summit in Poland.

Illinois GOP former Rep. Joe Walsh also leveled an attack at Obama as the Dallas shooting unfolded Thursday.

“This is now war. Watch out Obama,” Walsh, who served from 2011 to 2013, tweeted.

The Secret Service had no comment on Walsh’s tweets, some of which have been deleted.
