President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed the Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Senator Hope Uzodimma, as the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Ambassador.
The appointment, announced in a State House statement on Monday, takes immediate effect.
The development comes ahead of the national launch of the Ward Development Programme, with Governor Uzodimma also named the Director-General for Party Outreach, Engagement and Mobilisation.
In his new role, Uzodimma will coordinate efforts to publicise the administration’s policies and achievements in collaboration with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and governors across the federation, who are expected to serve as Ambassadors of Hope.
According to a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the Imo governor is expected to drive “harmony, inclusiveness, and strategic coordination” at all levels of the ruling party while mobilising grassroots support for the Renewed Hope agenda.
President Tinubu, while charging Uzodimma with the task of amplifying the administration’s gains, highlighted key milestones achieved since May 2023.
These include a steady decline in inflation for seven consecutive months to 16.05% in October, a stabilised exchange rate, and a rise in foreign reserves to over $46 billion—up from the $32 billion recorded in 2023, and a net reserve of $4 billion inherited on assumption of office.
The President also cited increasing investor confidence, growth in foreign direct and portfolio investments, a strong performance in the stock market, and diversification into the solid minerals sector.
Other achievements listed include the enrolment of over 700,000 students under the liberalised student loan scheme and the reduction of passport processing time to one week.
Tinubu expressed confidence that Governor Uzodimma and other APC governors will effectively communicate these accomplishments.
