Football icon Cristiano Ronaldo and his longtime partner, Georgina Rodriguez, are reportedly set to tie the knot next weekend in Madeira, Ronaldo’s birthplace in Portugal.
Ronaldo, 41, and Georgina, 32, are said to be trying the knot at Funchal and the wedding party will head to the five-star Savoy Palace hotel for the reception.
It was previously claimed the couple were set to wed at the Quinta da Regaleria estate in Sintra this weekend.
However, the rumours were cast in doubt as it was open to the public this weekend.
According to reports Ronaldo will infact get married at the Cathedral, with weddings usually starting from 3p.m before moving to the Savoy Palace hotel, which boasts foot restaurants.
A source said: ‘Guests at the hotel have been told two floors will be out of use on Friday and Saturday, as well as several bar areas’
Funchal is the hometown and birthplace of football star Cristiano.There is a bronze statue in his honour and he even has a hotel named after him.
Though neither Ronaldo nor Georgina has officially confirmed the wedding date or venue, one of the viral wedding pictures showed the Al-Nassr star and his spouse flaunt their engagement rings at the camera.
Another picture showed the couple flanked by popular football stars and celebrities, including Erling Haaland of Manchester City, Lamine Yamal of Barcelona and American online streamer and YouTuber IShowSpeed, among others.
The reports of the wedding intensified after guests at the hotel were told that two floors of the facility and some bars areas would be closed on Friday and Saturday for private event.
The latest development followed media reports in Portugal that the couple would be getting married after 2026 FIFA World Cup, at the location.
Ronaldo has an estimated net worth of $1.2 billion to $1.4 billion. Ronaldo’s choice to revisit his hometown is hugely sentimental as he grew up in poverty and shared a room with all his siblings. He left home at the age of 11 to join Sporting Lisbon.
Ronaldo and Georgina who is Spanish-Argentinian have been in relationship since 2016, and are raising children together. In August 2025, Georgina posted a photo of her wearing a diamond ring, confirming their engagement.
According to reports, the wedding is expected to become one of the most discussed and spectacular ceremonies of the year in sports world.
