Gunmen suspected to be bandits have launched a violent attack in Akaleku village in Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa on Wednesday night, killing a newly-wedded man and kidnapped his wife.
According to reports, the newly-wedded couple, Mr. and Mrs. Alu Anzaku were attacked during their honeymoon.
The bandits invaded the couple’s home around 11pm and fatally shot the man while abducting his wife.
The attack came 11 days after the couple tied the knot on April 12, 2025, making them victims in what should have been the early days of their to matrimonial journey.
The incident occurred in the remote Alakeku village, located along the Lafia-Makurdi Highway, a region that has been plagued by rising insecurity attributed to banditry and communal violence.
As of time of filing this report, the whereabout of the kidnapped woman remain unknown.
Family members, as well as sympathizers have expressed deep concerns over the situation.
