Super Eagles attacker, Moses Simon has been ruled out of the 2018 world cup after he sustained an injury.
Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, is now left with 29 players from which to select his team for the 2018 World Cup, after Moses Simon was ruled out of the tournament as a result of an injury.
Simon, who plays for Belgian Jupiler League side, Gent, will not feature in Monday’s friendly against the Democratic Republic of Congo, DRC, nor the subsequent game against England on June 2.
Rohr confirmed the development to news reports in Port Harcourt. He said;
“IT IS UNFORTUNATE MOSES SIMON WILL NOT BE TRAVELLING WITH THE TEAM ON TUESDAY BECAUSE HE IS DOWN WITH AN INJURY.
“THE NATURE OF HIS INJURY IS SUCH THAT HE WON’T BE RECOVERING QUICKLY ENOUGH TO MAKE THE WORLD CUP,”
Meanwhile, the German coach is set to drop four more players from the squad after the game against DR Congo.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will receive a whopping $24 million as winning bonus if they come top at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick says. He said;
“I DON’T PUT PLAYERS UNDER PRESSURE. PRESSURE CAN BE PUT ON THEM UNCONSCIOUSLY BECAUSE WE ARE CREATING ENABLING ENVIRONMENT FOR THEM.
“IF FOR EXAMPLE WE DON’T HAVE MONEY TO PREPARE THEM, THEY CAN NOW RELAX BUT NOW, WE HAVE GIVEN THEM EVERYTHING UPFRONT AND THEY SHOULD DELIVER.
“IF TODAY THEY GET TO THE FINAL, THE WORLD CUP MONEY WILL BE SHARED 50-50 BETWEEN THE TEAM AND THE NFF.
“WINNING THE FINAL IS 48 MILLION DOLLARS, IT MEANS THE TEAM WILL GET 24 MILLION DOLLARS AND THE FOOTBALL HOUSE WILL TAKE THE REMAINING 24 MILLION DOLLARS,”
