Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali stretchered off in the 35th minutes of Chippa United’s clash against Richard Bay on Tuesday night after picking up an injury.
The 29 -year-old now faces a race against the Amavubi and the Bafana Bafana.
The shot stopper was named in Nigeria’s 31-man provisional squad for crucial qualifiers last week.
Nwabali, who played a key role in 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), is now a major doubt for the national team’s upcoming fixtures, raising concerns for Super Eagles camp.

Adebayo Adeleke, Amas Obasogie and Ebenezer Harcourt are the other goalkeepers included in the squad.
Nigeria are desperate need of results as they attempt to revive a faltering qualification campaign for the 2026 World Cup.
The Super Eagles currently sit fourth in Group C with only two points from their opening three matches, six points adrift of leaders South Africa and one behind Benin and Rwanda.
Eric Chelle’s side will face Rwanda in Uyo September 3, before traveling to South Africa in fixture that could define Nigeria’s chances of making it to the World most celebrated football festival – Word Cup in North America.
With Super Eagles under mounting pressure, absence of their trusted goalkeeper would represent a significant blow to the 3-time AFCON champions.
