Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade, Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, have arrested two suspected gunrunners and recover 444 rounds of ammunition in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The suspects were intercepted during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Wukari-Ikyaior Road, where they were reportedly traveling on motorcycle.
A search conducted by the troops led to the recovery of 7.62mm special ammunition, alongside other items including cash, mobile phones, ATM cards, charms, and the motorcycle used for transport.
Military authority confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine the source and intended destination of the ammunition.
The Army also commended the troops for their vigilance, noting that the operation is part of efforts to dismantle criminal networks and strengthen security across Taraba and surrounding regions.
