The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has debunked online reports that its Head Office in Abuja was engulfed by fire.
This came after some online media had reported that the Headquarters of the Examination body was ravaged by fire which could affect the upcoming 2020 Senior School Certificate Examination.
The Examination Board, in a reaction to the report, clarified in a statement on its Twitter page on Thursday 6th August, that the report was fake. It urged the public to disregard the reports in circulation as it was the handiwork of mischief-makers.
It statement said, “We hereby categorically state that there was no fire incident in any of our offices.
“The publication is false and it is the handi-work of mischief-makers who are out to misinform, mislead and confuse the candidates and members of the public.
“We wish to reassure all candidates, stakeholders and members of the public that our security material are safe and intact.”
