On July 30, 2022 during Sen. Bassey Albert’s gubernatorial declaration in Uyo on the platform of Young People’s Party – YPP Deacon Unyime Udo Jacob, YPP Ward Chairman of Ibiakpan Obotim I in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, slumped and died at the venue of the occasion.
Unyime Udo Jacob who is from Ikot Ukobo the same village with the current Oku Ibom Ibibio and Paramount Ruler of Nsit Ubium LGA was previously a Ward Youth Leader of of Ibiakpan Obotim I in All Progressive Congress-APC under the Chapter Chairman Mr. Billy Mkpouto, defected to the People’s Democratic Party – PDP and later defected again to YPP where he died on the day Senator was received in YPP.
Speaking with the deceased wife, Mrs Esther Jacob, she narrated that her husband left the house sound and healthy for the occasion but didn’t returned as expected. After waiting till the late hour of the day she said that is where she received with shock a call that her husband was confirmed dead at the venue of the rally.
While crying that she doesn’t know what next to do, Esther Jacob a mother of 3 cried profusely as she called on well spirited individuals to come to her help to carter for the three children that her late husband left behind
The remains of Deacon Unyime Udo Jacob was taken from YPP rally ground and deposited in the mortuary.
9News Nigeria (South-South Bureau) interrogations on the cause of the death of the YPP Ward Chairman is yet to be known as the family of the decease are contemplating autopsy or other traditional means of investigation.
Hitherto, YPP Akwa Ibom State Chapter or it gubernatorial candidate is yet to issue an official statement on the sudden demise of the grassroot mobilizer in active participation of the Party activity.
