The Borno State Police Command on Monday hosted two senior Deputy Inspectors-General of Police on a strategic operational and community engagement visit aimed at consolidating security gains and deepening public trust across the North-East region.
The delegation, dispatched on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, comprised DIG Zachariah Fera Achinyan, in charge of the Force Intelligence Department, and DIG Zango Ibrahim Baba, overseeing Research and Planning.
Both officers were received by Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, and other senior officers.

Why They Visited
According to a press statement sigbed by the spokesman of Borno command, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the key issues they aim to address are enhance intelligence, partnership and troops moral.
During an interactive session with stakeholders, DIG Achinyan stressed that actionable intelligence is now the backbone of modern policing.
He called for sustained collaboration between the Police and the public to tackle evolving security threats.
“Actionable intelligence remains central to effective policing,” he said.
He reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to professionalism, accountability, and service excellence, while conveying IGP Disu’s pledge to strengthen strategic partnerships with communities to improve intelligence sharing and promote lasting peace.
The visit also featured a separate morale-boosting engagement with officers and men of the Borno Command.
Both DIGs commended personnel for their resilience and sacrifices in a “challenging operational environment,” particularly in counter-insurgency and stabilization operations.
They urged officers to remain disciplined, proactive, and intelligence-driven in confronting emerging threats.
Addressing the troops, the DIGs said that the command’s contributions to ongoing counter-insurgency efforts are acknowledged and appreciated, while encouraging them to deepen community engagement as a tactical tool.
The delegation used the opportunity for strategic consultations with key actors on sustaining gains recorded against crime and insurgency in Borno.
Discussions centered on improving public trust, enhancing information flow from communities, and aligning operational plans with local realities.
The event drew top police and community leaders, including AIG Usman Mu’azu Mohammed, Commandant, Police College Maiduguri, AIG Dahiru Mohammed, AIG Zone 15, covering Borno and Yobe and CP Naziru Abdulmajid, Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command.
Representatives of the Police Community Relations Committee, (PCRC) Members of the Police Officers’ Wives Association, (POWA) Traditional rulers and religious leaders were also present.

The visit comes as the North-East continues to record relative stability, with security agencies shifting focus to intelligence-led operations and civilian partnership to prevent resurgence of threats.
ASP Daso, the Borno State Police also reiterated the Borno command’s commitment to working closely with all segments of society “to ensure the safety and security of lives and property in the State.”
