Lagos state Nigeria will be holding a world-class summit on sustainable development goal, come September 12, 2024.
Dr Oreoluwa Finnih, special adviser to the Lagos governor on sustainable development goals made this announcement at an Exco meeting of the agency held in Lagos.
The Inaugural Sustainability Summit is targetted at Driving Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection in Lagos, Nigeria.
The office of Dr Oreoluwa Finnih, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Sustainable Development Goals in partnership with the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) and the Lagos State Government Safety Commission, is proud to announce the flagship of this upcoming Lagos Sustainability Summit.
Accordingly, the event will take place on September 12, 2024, at Eko Hotel and Suites, and will bring together stakeholders from various sectors to discuss and drive sustainable initiatives in Lagos State.
The summit, tagged Building a Resilient and Sustainable Lagos, aims to promote sustainable development, environmental protection, and social responsibility in Lagos State. The event will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, and exhibitions focused on five key areas:
Government Commitment to Sustainability: Showcasing strategic initiatives and policies that reflect the government’s dedication to sustainable development.
Community Engagement and Inclusion: Fostering social cohesion by ensuring equitable participation in sustainability efforts.
Ethical Business Practices and Social Impact: Promoting fair labor standards and community engagement initiatives that drive positive social impacts.
Sustainable Finance: Encouraging investments in projects that support the SDGs and integrate ESG criteria into financial decision-making.
Sustainable Supply Chains: Building resilient networks that support responsible waste management, local sourcing, and ethical labor practices.
Speaking at the press conference held on the 22nd of August at the Radisson hotel, Ikeja, Dr. Oreoluwa Finnih, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Sustainable Development Goals, emphasized the importance of collective action towards a sustainable future.
In his words, “We stand at a crossroads, and our choices today will determine the Lagos of tomorrow. We must innovate, adapt, and lead the way towards a resilient and sustainable city.”

The summit is expected to attract leaders from government, business, civil society, and academia, all working together towards a common goal of a sustainable Lagos Nigeria.
Registration is now open, and interested participants can register on the summit’s website as Latasha Ngwube stated.
