A capacity building and humanitarian organization, Nonso Nwaebili Foundation(NNF) has kickstarted a football tournament to develop young talents in different communities of Ogbaru local government Area,Anambra state.
The tournament started at the Central school Field Odekpe (St Patrick Catholic Church Odekpe) on the 13th day of June 2021. The tournament was declared open by Honorable Augustine Njoku who is the Ward Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA, Ward 403 (Iyiowa/Odekpe/ Ohita Ward).
A total of Seven (7) teams Registered to participate in the tournament to win a Whooping Cash Prize, they include Ohita, Odekpe,Oddo Rubber,Okoti,Obanwagu,Ogbeukwu and Iyiowa.
The Main purpose for this football tournament according to the Sponsor and Founder of NNF Barr Nonso Henry Nwaebili (UGOBUEZENNUNU) SSA to the Governor Anambra State on Protocol Matters Abuja is to Positively Engage the Youths.
“The youth play pivotal role in the development of the community especially in the areas of Community Peace, Social, Communal Co-existence and security of lives and property especially at this critical time when the country is faced with so much insecurity”.
He Further stated Since Charity Begins at home, it is also an opportunity to allow the Young Stars showcase their talents and abilities perhaps it could open door for international opportunities.P
Hon. Njoku who spoke to press men said the match will further unite the communities, in his words; Today’s Match was between the Stars of Odekpe glittering in Red Branded NNF Jersey’s and the Stars of Oddo Rubber sparkling in Dark blue Branded NNF Jerseys.
Although it is a friendly match, Both teams showed dedication and zealousness expected to win the NNF SUPER CUP and the score was 0-0, this will create bond between various community youths.
At the End of the game, the players where happy and looked forward to the next game.
“The fixtures and the date of Grand Finalle will be announced soon and it shall be Party after Party” the organizers said.
